Workshop on New Methods for Strongly Correlated Electrons(Oct 9th-13th, 2019, Qindao)

Apart from relativistic and quantum electrodynamics effects, many-body effects are undoubtedly the most difficult component to describe in electronic structure calculations of atoms, molecules, and solids. This is particularly true for strongly correlated electrons arising from near degeneracy and hence breakdown of the orbital picture. Having witnessed the fast development of the field, we plan to organize a three-day workshop focusing solely on the new quantum chemical methods for strongly correlated electrons. Yet, due to shortage of space and financial support, we can accommodate at most 40 regular participants, except for the 22 confirmed speakers. Each speaker will have 30 minutes for speech and 10 minutes for discussion. Therefore, the participants can learn much more from this workshop than from other similar symposia.

Confirmed speakers:

Ali Alavi, Paul Ayers, Jali Gao, Juergen Gauss, Emmanuel Ginner, Yang Guo, Martin Head-Gordon, Mark R. Hoffmann, Andreas Koehn, Peter Knowles, Zhendong Li, Shuhua Li, Wenjian Liu, Haibo Ma, Jean-Paul Malrieu, Debashis Mukherjee, Piotr Piecuch, Gustavo Scuseria, Sandeep Sharma, Seiichiro Ten-no, Cyrus Umrigar, Edward Valeev, Wei Wu
